There are still a few events that still do not have judges.  Contact Benton Shriver is you can help or know someone who can help.

The PC High Tournament is the last “warm up” to the State Tournament at UCO March 2nd.  All four of Oklahoma’s Division C schools are expected to participate as are all eleven of the state’s Division B members.  Details will be posted here.  Contact Tournament Director Benton Shriver at PC High for answers to specific questions about the Tournament.  The tournament registration form is located here.

Hope your Holiday break went well.  Are you ready for the next Olympiad?

This Saturday, January 12th, Longfellow Middle School in Norman hosts a Tournament for all Division B and C schools in the state.  This is their first time to host and they are very excited to offer their school as a venue for Science Olympiad.

Attached is the latest schedule of events.  As you can see, there are a few judging gaps.  If you know someone who is could be  judge, or if you can provide a judge, please contact Jeff Patterson ( jefferyp@norman.k12.ok.us ) as soon as possible.  Remember, judges are responsible for all aspects of an event, the set-up, the tests, the scoring… everything!  As an added bonus, the folks at Longfellow have established a Judges lounge where judges can confer, perform their important calculations, and have lunch, provided by staff and volunteers from Longfellow.  How special is that?

Also attached is the Registration form you need to send to Jeff to formalize your team’s intended participation in the tournament.  If you haven’t already done so, please email a copy of your completed registration form to Jeff as soon as possible.  You will also need to bring it with you Saturday with any of the amendments to the team roster that inevitably occur.

Remember, you MUST be a member of the Oklahoma Science Olympiad to participate in this Tournament.  Yes, you can have multiple teams from your school participate in this event, BUT they must compete as separate teams and must be pre-registered as such.  You cannot interchange personnel between the teams and you should provide separate assistant coaches to supervise the separate teams.

We are getting enough participants in Tournaments that it’s time to start thinking about proper supervision of Olympians.  PLEASE emphasized to Olympians (and their guests) that when they are not competing, they should restrict their activities to the team area.  As guests in the host school, they should not go on a journey of exploration a roam the halls, other than to confirm the location of their competition.  Most events are closed to spectators, but there are events, such as Mag-Lev, Boomilever and the flight and car events, that have the possibility for spectators.

Longfellow Middle School is located at 215 North Ponca Avenue in Norman.  The Google map url is: http://goo.gl/maps/ZB1vI

Questions?  Problems?  Un-met needs?  Contact Jeff and myself and we’ll do our best to provide a solution.

See ya Saturday!
